This work combines my favorite things: movement, stories, and creativity. I've been a mover and student of movement my whole life, even before I knew that was what I was doing. I've also loved reading, writing, and hearing people's stories for almost as long. The creativity comes in when people partner together to grow and learn.
I grew up in Nebraska exploring lakes and rivers and the greenspaces around them. I played every sport available to me, focusing on tennis in high school. I attended Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in English and playing D3 tennis. My senior year, I received the Scholar-Athlete of the year award.
After graduating, I moved to Washington, D.C. to work in government. I quickly learned that I was more suited to a gym environment than an office. In 2002 I completed a personal training certification and diversified by taking courses in kettlebells, pre/post-natal exercise, Natural Training, Brain Gym, and eventually posture therapy.
In 2007, my husband and I moved to Austin, TX and I found my area of focus in movement and exercise therapy. I’ve been a certified posture therapist through the Egoscue Institute since 2008, and have the highest level of certification: Advanced Exercise Therapist.
In addition to one-on-one exercise therapy, I teach alignment and movement classes, and lead hikes with Capital of Texas Team Survivor. The organization provides exercise classes and meet ups for free to its members. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2023 and went through chemotherapy treatment and surgery. Having access to my own knowledge of adaptability, durability, and high quality of life through the healing power of movement were essential to me. It is my life’s work to help others live a full, thriving life regardless of circumstances.
I am married, have teenage twins, and a dog. I am an all seasons open water swimmer, yogi, writer, reader, hiker, paddler, and decent cook/ baker.
